Studio Alcor

The home for my works in design, music, writing, and beyond. Here is the story behind how Alcor became its name.

A wide blue sky streaked with thin white cirrus clouds, glowing orange along the horizon at the right, where a lone figure stands at the edge of the sea

Celestial Origin

Alcor is a faint star located very close to its companion star Mizar. Being able to distinguish them in the night sky was used as a test of visual acuity across Arabic, Persian, and Roman folklore. To pass the test proved one’s exceptional focus and attention to detail.

Mizar sits within the Big Dipper, which is part of the larger Ursa Major constellation, or “Great Bear” in Latin. The bear mirrors the mascot of the university I attend and the many stories I have made from it. This site itself, which I consider one of my largest projects, also contains a part of me through this reference.

The sky being a source of ideas and storytelling inspired me to name my site after it. I hope that if you look intently at my creations, you’ll be able to read my story within them.

This site will grow over time as I document my journey in design, music, and beyond.
